[origin: US4615317A] An rpm governor for internal combustion engines having two cooperating levers pivotable about a shaft and engaged at one end by at least one governor spring and, counter to this force, by at least one rpm signal transducer is proposed. An idling spring engages one of the two levers, and its other end is adjustably disposed in the governor housing. As a result, a very fine idling adjustment is attainable, independently of the conventional governor springs, and so a "hole" in the engine torque during a transition from overrunning to loaded operation is avoided.
