[origin: US4622910A] The button hole presser foot engages longitudinally slidably in a frame like slide which is taken along with the sewing material. The slide comprises a cord stretched in the longitudinal direction which encircles the lower end of a shaft of the presser foot shank. At the top end of the shaft is provided an impeller through which a light beam of a light source emerges toward a optoelectric transducer. During the sewing operation the slide moves with the sewing material and it drives the impeller which generates pulses each corresponding to a step of the motion of the sewing material, respectively of the slide. For determining the length of the cords, a determined number of steps, respectively of pulses is counted each time. This permits a reliable and precise determination of the length of the cords.

Der Knopflochnähfuss (4,15) greift längsverschiebbar in einen rahmenartigen Schlitten (10), welcher mit dem Nähgut (14) mitgenommen wird. Am Schlitten (10) befindet sich eine in Längsrichtung gespannte Saite (19), die das untere Ende einer am Nähfussschaft (4b) gelagerten Welle (17) umschlingt. Am oberen Ende der Welle befindet sich ein Flügelrad (22), durch welches ein Lichtstrahl (24) von einer Lichtquelle (25) zu einem optoelektrischen Wandler (26) durchtritt. Während des Nähvorgangs verschiebt sich der Schlitten mit dem Nähgut und treibt das Flügelrad an, womit Impulse erzeugt werden, die je einem Verschiebungsschritt des Nähgutes bzw. des Schlittens entspricht. Zur Bemessung der Länge der Raupen wird je eine bestimmte Anzahl von Schritten bzw. Impulsen ge?hlt. Es ist damit eine zuverlässige genaue Bemessung der Raupenlänge möglich.
