[origin: WO8503249A1] An insulating coupling (16, 18) for drill collars (10, 12) and a method of manufacturing thereof are presented wherein the coupling (16, 18) consists of an electrically insulating ceramic coating (24) applied in thickness from 0.002 to 0.006 inch to the threads of the coupling by a detonation gun process and sealed with an epoxy sealer to reduce porosity.
