[origin: EP0171523A2] With the aid of a series of turns (8) wound around the high-tension cable (9) which supplies the distributor, a signal is obtained whose value is proportional to the number of revolutions per minute. This signal is compared with a reference signal in a comparator (16) which controls a logic circuit (3) which in turn causes the deactivation of an electrovalve (6) inserted in the idling channel, this occurring when the number of revolutions of the engine exceeds a certain value and when simultaneously the driver releases the accelerator pedal (4). In all other cases the logic circuit (3) enables activation of the electrovalve (6) and normal operation of the engine. <IMAGE>
