A method of stopping moisture mounting in brickwork with the following features : a) a number of horizontal or slightly sloping parallel drill holes passing through the whole brickwork is drilled into the brickwork, the distance between the individual adjacent drill holes being somewhat smaller than the diameter of the drill holes, so that a continuous slit is obtained from a multiplicity of drill holes ; b) a hardening slurry is introduced into the drill holes ; characterised by the following features : c) an elongate element (12) is respectively inserted into the individual adjacent drill holes, which has at least one central cavity (14), at least one connecting cavity (16) and on its external circumferential surface (18) a projection (20), the central cavity (14) being connected by means of holes (22) to the external circumferential surface (18) of the elongate element (12) and the connecting cavity (16) being connected by means of a slit (24) provided in the longitudinal direction of the elongate element (12) to the external circumferential surface (18) of the elongate element (12) and the projection (20) having a cross section adapted to the cross section of the connecting cavity (16) ; d) during the insertion of the elongate element (12), the projection (20) is pushed into the connecting cavity (16) of an adjacent elongate element (12), whereby adjacent elongate elements (12) are interconnected with each other and form a continuous barrier ; e) the slurry is introduced into the central cavities (14) of the elongate element (12) which fills it in and whence it passes through the holes (22) into the gap (32) between the external circumferential surface (18) of the elongate element (12) and the wall of the drill hole (30) which it also fills in.
