Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0172062A2] 1. An autonomous machine for the sideways movement and transfer of transferable, movable separators such as concrete blocks forming boundary marking and defining at least one side of a road or motorway traffic lane, the machine being of the type which includes a channel for guiding successive blocks forming a row of blocks, the channel being generally S-shaped and including an inlet and an outlet which are offset, the row of blocks being lifted from the ground, suspended in the guide channel, passed through the guide channel, and moved sideways through a predetermined distance which corresponds to the width of a traffic lane in order to create a barrier for separating two lanes for traffic travelling in opposite directions, the machine being characterised in that it includes two sets of steerable wheels (4, 5) which are controlled by steering devices (6) which enable the machine to move forwards and backwards in straight lines as well as to rotate completely, the sets of steerable wheels enabling the offset of the inlet (11) of the guide channel (10) relative to its outlet (12) to be adjusted by a distance adjustable according to minimum and maximum lane widths, the inlet (15) and the outlet (16) of the guide channel always being parallel to the associated wheels.
