Method for improving the running behaviour of a motor vehicle driven by means of an internal combustion engine (1), in which the internal combustion engine (1) is elastically supported in the body (2), the internal combustion engine (1) being supplied with fuel by a fuel metering system (12, 41) equipped with a feed rate adjusting device (72, 43, 41) and changes in the adjustment of the feed rate adjusting device (72, 43, 41) being effected in dependence on relative movements of the internal combustion engine (1) with respect to the body (2), characterized in that the relative movements of the internal combustion engine (1) with respect to the body (2) are detected and are converted by differentiation into control signals according to which, depending on the direction of movement of the internal combustion engine (1), the feed rate adjusting device (72, 43, 41) of the internal combustion engine (1) meters fuel quantities as a compensation for the relative movements either in the direction of a reduction or of an increase.
