Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0172454A1] 1. Monitoring device for a light signal system, particularly a traffic signal, with signal lamps (1...4) connected via lamp switches (5) to an operating alternating voltage (6, 7), in which sensor circuits are provided for obtaining lamp circuit status signals associated with the individual lamp circuits, in which at least some of the sensor circuits exhibit optocouplers (10, 12), the electro-optical transducer (10) of which is inserted between a tap (11) of a reference alternating voltage which is phase-synchronous with the operating alternating voltage and a tap (8) provided between a lamp switch (5) and a signal lamp (1...4) and the associated opto-electric transducers (12) of which are sensor output signal sources (14), characterized in that each tap (8) located between a lamp switch (5) and a signal lamp (1...4) is associated with two antiparallel-connected LEDs (10) as electro-optical transducers, that each of these electro-optical transducers (10) operates in conjunction with a separate optoelectrical transducer (12), and that at least two reference alternating voltages, which are different from one another, with an upper reference alternating voltage associated with a red lamp circuit (16) and a lower reference alternating voltage associated with a green and/or amber lamp circuit are provided, sensor circuits (15, 10) also being provided for these reference alternating voltages.
