Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0172492A2] 1. A valve (1) for an internal combustion engine, especially an outlet and/or blow-off valve for a supercharged reciprocating-piston internal combustion engine, the valve comprising a valve head (4) made of a high-temperature and corrosion-resistant material and a valve stem (5) made of a material different from that of the valve head (4), in which the valve stem's (5) end portion (7) in contact with the valve head (4) is arranged in a receptacle (8) centrally disposed in the valve head (4) and, preferably, extending into the vicinity of the valve head's bottom (4b), in which the valve stem (5) and the valve head (4) are designed, as far as their respective external shape essential for meeting operational requirements is concerned, to be manufactured as separate components, in which the shape of the receptacle (8) and at least that of the end portion (7) of the valve stem (5) in contact with the valve head is a substantially cylindrical one, and in which at least the valve stem's (5) end face facing the valve head's bottom (4b) and the stem's peripheral regions consist of a heat-conducting material, characterized in that the valve stem (5) is provided with a continuous collar (9) which terminates the end portion (7) in contact with the valve head and which, by virtue of its form-locking abutment on the valve head (4), communicates heat-conductingly therewith, that the end portion (7) in contact with the valve head is provided with an annular groove (10) bordering on the continuous collar (9), and in that the annular groove is occupied entirely bay the valve head's (4) end portion (4c) remote from the head's bottom.
