The method involves firing from a launcher installed at the threatened target a projectile charged with a combustible projecting agent, destroying the projectile and at the same time igniting and dispersing the projecting agent to form an infrared simulated target cloud alongside the target and in the range of the optics of the homing guidance head, the cloud having a higher infrared radiation intensity than that of the threatened target, characterised in that several projectiles are successively fired and destroyed, with the propelling agent in them ignited and dispersed, at such intervals in time and space that a chain of successive further new infrared simulated target clouds, each following on from the one before, is produced and thus a simulated target shifting constantly further away from the threatened target is formed. This method is preferably carried out using a single launcher charged successively with several projectiles, for example with five to nine projectiles, preferably with seven projectiles.

Verfahren zum Schutz von infrarot-strahlenden Zielen, insbesondere von Schiffen, vor mit Infrarot-Lenksuchköpfen ausgerüsteten Flugkörpern, wobei man neben dem Ziel und im Bereich der Optik des Lenksuchkopfs durch Abschuß eines mit einem brennbaren Wurfmittel beladenen Wurfkörpers aus einem auf dem bedrohten Ziel installierten Abschußrohr, Zerlegung des Wurfkörpers und gleichzeitige Anzündung und Verteilung des Wurfmittels eine Infrarot-Scheinzielwolke mit gegenüber dem bedrohten Ziel höherer Infrarot-Strahlungsleistung bildet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man der Reihe nach mehrere Wurfkörper unter solcher zeitlicher und räumlicher Versetzung verschießt und unter Anzündung und Verteilung des darin befindlichen Wurfmittels zerlegt, daß eine sich von der jeweils vorherigen Scheinzielwolke fortpflanzende Kette aus aufeinanderfolgenden weiteren neuen Infrarot-Scheinzielwolken entsteht und so ein vom bedrohten Ziel ständig weiter wegwanderndes Scheinziel gebildet wird. Vorzugsweise wird dieses Verfahren unter Verwendung eines mit mehreren Wurfkörpern, beispielsweise mit fünf bis neun Wurfkörpern, vorzugsweise mit sieben Wurfkörpern, in Reihe beladenen einzigen Abschußrohrs durchgeführt.
