In the screw compressor, which has two helically toothed, axially parallel driven rotors with a housing surrounding the rotors, an inlet opening in the housing for the uncompressed medium, an outlet aperture for the compressed medium in the front or peripheral wall of the housing, a discharge space downstream of the outlet aperture and a discharge line, connected to the discharge space, for carrying away the compressed medium, the following measures are provided for the purpose of automatic adaptation of the cross-sectional area of the outlet of the compressor: the cross-sectional shape of the outlet aperture is invariable; in addition to the outlet aperture and separately from the latter, at least one bore in the front or peripheral wall of the housing leads out of the interior of the housing into the discharge space, and a spring-loaded relief valve is arranged in said bore. <IMAGE>

Bei einem Schraubenverdichter für gasförmige Medien mit zwei schraubenförmig verzahnten, achsparallelen, angetriebenen Rotoren, mit einem die Rotoren umschliessenden Gehäuse, mit einer Einlassöffnung am Gehäuse für das unverdichtete Medium, mit einem an der Stirn- oder Umfangswand des Gehäuses angeordneten Auslassfenster für das verdichtete Medium, mit einem hinter dem Auslassfenster gelegenen Druckraum und mit einer an den Druckraum angeschlossenen Druckleitung zum Abführen des verdichteten Mediums sind zum Zwecke einer automatischen Anpassung der Auslassquerschnittsfläche des Verdichters folgende Merkmale vorgesehen: Die Querschnittsform des Auslassfensters ist unveränderlich, zusätzlich zum Auslassfenster und separat von diesem führt wenigstens eine Bohrung in der Stirn- oder Umfangswand des Gehäuses aus dem Gehäuseinnenraum in den Druckraum, und in dieser Bohrung ist ein federbelastetes Überströmventil angeordnet.
