[origin: EP0176140A2] Equipment for producing a variety of printing inks of various colours, viscosity and other properties incorporates sufficient, stirred reservoirs for the range of ingredients necessary, means for selecting various combinations of ingredients and delivering them in a suitable sequence or simultaneously, at appropriate flow rates, to a mixing system by gravity feed and a receiving vessel with an agitator for homogenising material delivered by the mixing head. The selection and metering of ingredients for a particular ink compsn. is effected by a programmable system, specifically a computer with an input system for product formulation cards, and the receiver is supported by a weigh scale from which the readings are used to monitor the quantities prepd.
