[origin: EP0177452A2] This device (2) is used for moving a surface-cleaning apparatus (1) over the surfaces to be cleaned, with the slow advancing movements required for cleaning. The direction of rotation of the rotor (11) of the device exerts a tractor force, so that mostly braking has to be effected. The device (2) is coupled to the apparatus (1) by means of a coupling (30). Said device comprises a frame (20) having two wheels (21), a seat (29) for an operator, and a pedal drive (22-27) which acts by means of reducing gears, without free running, on at least one of the two wheels (21). The operator sitting on the seat can use the pedals to advance the surface-cleaning apparatus over the surface to be cleaned by braking or driving with the uniform, slow movements required for cleaning. The combination of surface-cleaning apparatus and the device (2) serves for derusting a ship's deck, cleaning or roughening a concrete floor, etc. <IMAGE>
