1. Working cylinder without a piston rod, having a power consumer (8) enclosing the cylinder housing (1), constructed as a slide and guided along the cylinder housing (1) without being able to rotate, in which consumer a brake device (35 to 38) with a brake lining (37) cooperating with an external friction surface of the cylinder housing (1) is integrated, characterized in that the cylinder housing (1) has a plurality of flat rolling or sliding ways (41, 42) extending in the longitudinal direction, against which rolling or sliding means (31 to 34 ; 43 and 44) arranged in the power consumer (8) rest so as to prevent rotation thereof, in that the brake lining (37) engages on one side with the cylinder housing (1), and in that at least some of the rolling or sliding means (31 and 32 ; 43 and 44) or slideways (41, 42) are arranged in such a ways as to take up the radial forces occuring in the power consumer (8) during braking.

Bei einem fluidgetriebenen kolbenstangenlosen Arbeitszylinder mit längs des Zylindergehäuses (1) verdrehsicher geführtem Kraftabnehmer (8) ist dieser schlittenartig ausgebildet und stützt sich außen am Zylindergehäuse, dieses umfassend, mittels Gleit- oder Rollkörpern ab. Es können am Kraftabnehmer (8) Räder oder Rollen (31-34) gelagert sein, die sich außen an gegenüberliegenden Flächenabschnitten des Zylindergehäuses (1) abstützen. Die Räder oder Rollen (31-34) können durch Gleitbänder oder Gleitbeläge ersetzt sein, die an Profilflächen des Zylindergehäuses (1) und/oder am Kraftabnehmer (8) angebracht sind.
