[origin: US4650953A] A plasma torch comprises an electrode secured to a liquid-cooled electrode holder and formed with a flow passage communicating with a central outlet for delivering an ionizable gas and a nozzle body which surrounds the electrode and serves to conduct gas along the outside surface of the electrode. To permit an increase of the torch power, the central outlet communicating with the flow passage constitutes a diffuser. The outlet opening of the diffuser is axially spaced from the nozzle body.

Ein Plasmabrenner weist eine in einem Düsenkörper (3) eingesetzte Elektrode (1) zum Zuführen von Gas entlang des Aussenmantels der Elektrode (1) auf, wobei die Elektrode (1) mit einem zentralen Strömungskanal (7) für ein ionisierbares Gas versehen und an einem flüssigkeitsgekühlten Elektrodenhalter (2) befestigt ist. Um die Brennerleistung zu erhöhen, ist der zentrale Austritt des Strömungskanales (7) als Diffusor (11) ausgebildet. Die Austrittsöffnung (12) des Diffusors (11) ragt dabei mit axialem Abstand (a) aus dem Düsenkörper (3) vor.
