Tubular door closer, comprising a damper preferably installed in the door leaf (1), in particular a hydraulic cylinder (12), a tension-proof tension member (5) resiliently bendable, engaging on the movable part (14) of the damper (12), in particular with a sheathed wire rope (6) and a fitting (11) preferably arranged in a stationary manner in the door frame (2) for the pivoting of the tension member (5) adjacent the frame, characterized in that the tension member (5) comprises a sheating (7) of synthetic material which is resiliently bendable in several directions and is resistant to kinking and to compression, the tension member (5) being guided positively at least partly in the tube (13) of the damper (12).
