Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8504572A1] A container (20) having a semi-rigid or rigid outer shell (22) and a co-extensive flexible inner liner (24) which is weakly or temporarily adhered to the shell (22) to permit more convenient manufacturing of the container (20) and yet is collapsible to permit dispensing of the contents (28) without displacement air, and an access site (58) defined in the container wall to which an access assembly (26) may be attached. The liner (24) may be weakly adhered to the shell (22) by a low tensile strength adhesive although natural adherence or static electric attraction may also be used. Alternatively, a degradable adhesive may be used which holds the liner (24) and shell (22) together during assembly, but weakens to a point below the threshold of release between the shell and the liner prior to the time of use. The access site (58) is preferably defined by an annular fold (60) in the container wall which tightly captures the liner (24) to provide a mechanical peripheral seal between the shell (22) and the liner (24) around the access site to prevent leakage of liquid, into the area between the shell (22) and the liner (24). The container (20) is particularly useful as a nursing container, including a nipple access site (58) with an attached nipple assembly (26).
