[origin: US4616575A] A method and apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material wherein the degree of efficiency of the last cyclone of a multi-cyclone preheater preceding a filter is reduced in the finest grain size range and at least a proportion of the filter dust deposited in the filter is passed directly to the calciner. In this way material is prevented from caking and flowing in batches in the apparatus.
