Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8504769A1] In order to replace conventional incandescent lamps by known small fluorescent tubes (9), the present invention proposes an adapter with on one side a socket (10) compatible with fluorescent tubes and on the other side a cap (3) compatible with incandescent lamps. To the adapter, electric and/or electronic aggregates (16, 18, 20, 22) are integrated which enable the electric compatibility of the fluorescent tubes (9) with the mains, as well as their operation by means of a connection to the mains on the cap (3). In order to obtain a compact construction and a substantially reaction-free operation, the invention proposes to operate the tubes (9) at a substantially higher frequency than the mains frequency.
