Device for selectively feeding objects (114) to the platen roller (116) of an office machine, said objects serving as substrates for information recording and being stacked in two or more magazines (111) to (113), to each of which a single object feeder is assigned, said feeder having a shaft (12), each of these shafts being drivingly connectable to a gear element (42) via a controllable coupling unit (10) which gear element can be coupled to the platen roller (116), each coupling unit being capable of being activated individually, by rotation through different, predetermined angles during a reverse rotation of the platen roller (116), and each coupling unit (10) has a driving dog (52) which is mounted on a drive wheel (44, 44', 44") and establishes the connection that can transmit drive power, said drive wheel being coupled to the gear element (42), and said driving dog (52) being capable of being coupled to said shaft (12) during the first-mentioned reverse rotation of the platen roller (116), coupling being effected via connecting elements while the rotation matches the predetermined rotation angle (68), these connecting elements comprising a lever (20) which can be captured and propelled by the driving dog (52) during forward rotation of the platen roller (116), and further comprising a control element (28) cooperating with said lever (20) and is connectable to said shaft (12) for rigid rotation therewith, characterized in that the control element on the lever (20) is designed in the form of a pawl (28) which, with said lever, constitutes a ratchet-type coupling, and which can be moved by the driving dog (52) into a position such that it engages with a toothed drum (14) which is connected to the single-object feed shaft (12) for rigid rotation.
