Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0179992A2] The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the stack- forming collection of sheet-like products, especially signatures for the collation of book blocks following a printing machine. The signatures are conveyed in compartments, formed by radially extending partition walls, of a continuously rotating bucket wheel during a predetermined angular rotation of the bucket wheel and are then transported away by a transport means. During rotation in the bucket wheel, the signatures are continuously pressed radially outwards, and their leading edge moves respectively from the compartment bottom at a first radial distance R1 from the axis of rotation of the bucket wheel along a preferably arcuate path in the region of a sector to the outer edge of the respective partition wall at a second radial distance R2 and at reduced speed. A stripping-off band (32) guided via guide rollers (34, 36) and a guide rail (40) is provided for the displacement movement of the signatures (14). The relative speed between the stripping-off band and the signature leading edge is preferably equal to zero during the downward movement of the signature in the gusset formed by the stripping-off band and bucket. <IMAGE>
