A method for cleaning colour residues from a printing cylinder by means of a liquid, characterised in that the printing cylinder (2) is sprayed with a high-pressure water jet with a feed pressure of over 100 bar, in such a manner, that the colour residues are removed wholly mechanically by the impact of the water jet.
