Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8505204A1] An automated application program development system and method enabling automated development of operational COBAL programs for stand-alone applications or subroutines. The application program development system and method utilizes a user terminal (52) with a graphic display (54) which is interconnected to a programmed general purpose host computer (50). The host computer (50) is in turn interconnected to storage media (56) for storage of the developed COBAL programs. A printer (58) is interconnected to the host computer (50) for hard copy printout. The automated application program development method involves creation of an application plan (60) which is used to develop the COBAL programs at the user terminal (52). The application program development system of the present invention enables COBAL source (64), job control language (66) and program documentation (68) to be developed by a user at the user terminal (52).
