[origin: EP0180814A2] A device for winding wire or thin steel strip of high coil weights into a reel cage rotating about a vertical axis. Because the winding of high coil weights results in very high coils which frequently fall apart when lifted out of the cage and transferred onto a transport pallet, the present invention has set itself the object of providing a device which avoids the lifting out and transportation problem associated with the high coils. The invention consists in the pallet (5) for onward transport of the coils being inserted into the reel cage and coupled to the latter. <IMAGE>
