Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0181038A2] The organic raw material, e.g. vegetation, fish scraps, offal, etc., is loaded via a flap into the loading/unloading chamber and fed by an Archimedes screw system into the drying section where hot gases from the heating section dehydrate the material. The screw, which rotates in a trough, is driven by a motor and brings the material into a drum which is rotated by another motor. The drum has helically disposed internal ribs which tumble the material in the hot gas flow from the combustion chamber. After drying, the screw rotation is reversed to return the material to the input chamber for removal. The gas flow is controlled by input and output fans. (FL)
