[origin: US4723486A] A device for automatic angular positioning of indexable rotary elements, especially for postal franking machines and the like comprises a common indexing-control gear-wheel rigidly fixed to a cylindrical indexing-control rod, and an indexing-control rotating primary shaft which forms a ball cage. The balls are engaged in an annular groove of a shaft bearing and in helical grooves of the control rod which can be temporarily locked either against rotational motion or against sliding motion, a support being provided for the bearing and capable of moving towards the series of indexable rotary elements.

L'invention concerne le positionnement angulaire automatique d'organes rotatifs indexables de machines, notamment de machines d'affranchissement postal. Le dispositif comporte : une roue dentée commune de commande d'indexation (37) solidaire d'une tige cylindrique de commande d'indexation (39); un arbre rotatif primaire de commande d'indexation (41) formant cage à billes (42) engagées dans une gorge annulaire (45) du palier (44) de cet arbre et dans des gorges hélicoïdales (46) de la tige (39); des moyens (65, 35) pour immobiliser temporairement la tige de commande d'indexation soit en rotation, soit en coulissement; et un support (47) pour le palier (44), mobile dans la direction de l'ensemble des organes rotatifs indexables (28a, 28b, 28c, 28d). L'invention est applicable aux machines qui possèdent des organes rotatifs indexables, notamment des machines d'affranchissement postal ou autres machines de bureau, des machines de conditionnement, etc.
