[origin: WO8505644A1] An amphibious self-contained oil spill absorbing machine having a chassis (1) supported and propelled on land by front and rear rollers (2) and (3). The front roller (2) has a covering of oil absorbing material and works against a pinch roller (26) to squeeze oil absorbed by the covering into a trough for collection. The machine may be driven into the water supported by floats (13) adjustable by rams (17) to control the depth of penetration of the roller (2). Operation is possible in shallow water, on beaches and in estuary conditions.

Machine amphibie autonome d'absorption de pertes de pétrole, comportant un châssis (1) soutenu et propulsé sur terre par des cylindres avant et arrière (2 et 3). Le cylindre avant (2) comporte un revêtement de matériau absorbant le pétrole et agit contre un cylindre d'entraînement (26) afin de presser le pétrole absorbé par le revêtement pour le faire passer dans une rigole en vue de le recueillir. La machine peut être entraînée dans l'eau, soutenue par des flotteurs (13) et réglable par des pistons hydrauliques (17) afin de réguler la profondeur de pénétration du cylindre (2). Son actionnement est possible en eau peu profonde, sur des plages et dans des conditions d'estuaire.
