[origin: EP0182011A2] A process is described for regenerating a heat-sensitive ink ribbon with partially used-up melt-on ink, the heat-sensitive ink ribbon being passed over a heating plate for melting on the remaining melt-on ink and being smoothed in the melted-on state. A device for carrying out this process and a suitable coloured pencil are also described. The coloured pencil is identical to or largely corresponds with the melt-on ink of the heat-sensitive ink ribbon in respect of its composition. Thus heat-sensitive ink ribbons can be regenerated in an inexpensive and simple manner and with sufficient quality so that they can be put to multiple use. <IMAGE>
