[origin: CA1253067A] An adjusting mechanism used for exerting a force on two parts movable relative to one another and has a cylinder, a piston and a piston rod. On the piston there is also provided a guide rod, which is guided in a guide connection of a bottom cylinder casting. A control piston is displaceably guided in a longitudinal bore of the piston in a further longitudinal bore of the guide rod. The piston contains ducts which are either interrupted by the control piston or are freed by a smaller diameter portion of the control piston. The inner cylinder chamber is completely filled with a flowable or fluid grease. As a result, the piston rod can be locked in position by blocking ducts and on releasing the latter can be moved. The locking of the adjusting mechanism in a specific position, as is particularly required in the case of tiltable chairs, is consequently facilitated compared with known mechanisms and in addition through the use of the flowable grease, the sealing of the adjusting mechanism is made simpler

Die Verstellvorrichtung (1) dient zur Kraftbeaufschlagung von zwei zueinander beweglichen Teilen (34, 35) und weist einen Zylinder (2) und einen Kolben (3) mit einer Kolbenstange (4) auf. Am Kolben (3) ist zudem eine Führungsstange (17) angeordnet, die in einem Führungsstutzen (27) eines Zylinderbodens (9) geführt ist. In einer Längsbohrung (13) des Kolbens (3) und in einer weiteren Längsbohrung (14) der Führungsstange (17) ist ein Steuerkolben (20) verschiebbar geführt. Im Kolben (3) sind Kanäle (25) angeordnet, die durch den Steuerkolben (20) entweder unterbrochen oder über eine Partie kleineren Durchmessers (21) des Steuerkolbens (20) freigegeben sind. Der Zylinderinnenraum ist vollständig mit einem fließfähigen Fett gefüllt. Dadurch kann durch Blockieren der Kanäle (25) die Kolbenstange (4) in ihrer Lage blockiert und bei der Freigabe dieser Kanäle (25) bewegt werden. Die Blockierung der Verstellvorrichtung (1) in einer bestimmten Stelle, wie dies bei neigbaren Stühlen vor allem gewünscht wird, wird dadurch gegenüber bekannten Vorrichtungen erleichtert, und zudem ist wegen der Verwendung eines fließfähigen Fettes die Abdichtung der Verstellvorrichtung (1) einfacher.
