[origin: EP0182308A2] A frame has handgrips to assist handicapped persons. The frame (18) is made from corrosion resistant material, pref. stainless steel tubes and consists of a main vertical member and a main horizontal member welded together. The end portions (28) of both horizontal and vertical members are joined to support plates (22) by L-shaped pieces of tube (32). The L-shaped parts can be fitted to either side of the main members so that the completed frame can be made suitable for either right or left-handed persons. The vertical member has a middle horizontal portion, which together with the horizontal member, forms a U-shaped recess.
