[origin: EP0182326A2] The inking unit for a printing machine has an inker roller, which inks the printing forme, and a screen roller (5) which interacts with said inker roller and to which an alternating doctor blade (13) is assigned. A long service life of the doctor blade can be achieved in that the screen roller (5) is provided with laterally attached support rings (15), which have the same diameter as the screen roller and a smooth circumferential surface and in that the length of the doctor blade (13) is shorter by at least the alternation stroke than the mutual spacing of the outer end faces of the support rings. <IMAGE>
