1. A device for applying a viscous or pasty material, in particular a hot melt adhesive, on the edge of a flat object, in particular a sheet metal shaped part, having a storage container for the material to be applied, an application head, a conveying means for conveying the material from the storage container into the application head, and two application jaws (3, 4), between which the edge of the object can be inserted during application, and which each have at least one application channel (11, 12) connected with the storage container and opening out into jaw surfaces which are facing each other, wherein the application jaws (3, 4) are arranged in the application head pressing resiliently against each other in the manner of pincers.

Für die gleichzeitige zweiseitige Applikation einer pastösen Masse auf dem Rand eines Blechformteils oder dergleichen ist ein spezieller Applikationskopf mit zwei zangenartig federnd gegeneinander gepressten Applikationsbacken (3, 4) vorgesehen, zwischen denen der Rand des Blechformteils im Betrieb hindurchgeführt wird. Die beiden Applikationsbacken bilden zwischen sich einen Schlitz (10), der den Rand des Blechformteils aufnimmt und in den je ein Applikationskanal (11, 12) ausmündet. Letztere sind über ein Leitungssystem (15a-f, 16a-f) mit einem gemeinsamen Speiseanschluss (17) für die Zufuhr der pastösen Masse verbunden. Der Applikationskopf wird in der Praxis an ein Speisegerät beliebiger Art, beispielsweise an ein pressluftbetriebenes Kolbenkartuschengerät, angeschlossen.
