Le dispositif sert notamment à la recherche, à l'examen et à l'identification d'empreintes digitales. Le dispositif comporte entre le prisme réfléchissant (3) et la partie finale (23) du dispositif (25) proche de l'image deux prismes de déviation (8) et (13) pour aplanir le champ d'image de l'objet (7), ainsi qu'un système optique connu (17) pour compenser l'astigmatisme.
