[origin: US4659162A] An insulating contact carrier block is immobilized and locked in a corresponding cavity of an electrical connector casing by at least one, and preferably two elastic clips. The clips are disposed respectively between the ends of the contact carrier block and the respective ends of the cavity of the casing. Each clip is of U shape, has a center web for hooking the clip on the adjacent end wall of the casing cavity, and legs projecting in the same direction from the ends of the web, straddle and elastically engage the sides of the block. An elastic tab on the web engages the adjacent end of the insulating carrier block during insertion of the block into the cavity, and snaps over a stop shoulder on the block to lock the block in its seated position in the cavity. Free ends of the legs of the clip engage stepped shoulders on the cavity side walls to prevent unhooking of the web from the end wall of the cavity.

Elément de connecteur électrique multicontacts, comprenant un boîtier creux comportant au moins une cavité de réception d'un bloc isolant, le ou chacun des blocs comportant une pluralité de logements ou alvéoles traversants, prévus pour la mise en place de contacts immobilisés dans lesdits alvéoles, l'élément de connecteur comporte en outre des moyens de verrouillage aptes à coopérer avec des moyens de verrouillage d'un élément de connecteur complémentaire. Chaque bloc isolant (3) est immobilisé dans la cavité correspondante (2) du boîtier (1) par deux clips (5) élastiques présentant une section sensiblement en forme de U dont l'âme (13) présente des moyens d'accrochage sur une paroi de petit côté de la cavité du boîtier et des moyens élastiques (17, 18) d'appui sur la paroi de petit côté en regard du bloc isolant (3), chacune des branches (14) du clip étant agencée pour s'appliquer élastiquement, contre une des parois de grand côté du bloc isolant, chacune des branches du clip étant en outre agencée pour que sa face d'extrémité libre (22) s'applique élastiquement contre une portée d'appui (8) en d'écrochement de la paroi de grand côté correspondante de la cavité du boîtier.
