A device for picking up explosive objects such as explosive charges, bombs, mines or the like, scattered on a ground, particularly on runways of airports, comprising a pick-up bucket (23) mounted to an engine-driven vehicle (10) for vertical adjustment, characterized in that the pick-up bucket (23) includes a front bucket portion (25) adapted to be brought into a position approximately parallel to the ground, a broom-like pick-up member (24) extending above the pick-up bucket along the width thereof being movably supported by the vehicle such that upon being driven by a suitable driving means the pick-up member engages objects in front of the pick-up bucket (23) to move them into the interior of the bucket by a permanent or intermittent sweeping motion.
