Die flache Bildwiedergabevorrichtung besteht aus einem wannenförmig ausgebildeten Leuchtschirm 9 aus Glas auf der Vorderseite mit einer inneren Leuchtschicht, einem metallischen Kolben 1 als Rückseite und einer plattenförmigen Steuerstruktur 8 zwischen einer flächenhaften Kathode 7 und der Leuchtschicht. Um die Seitenwände 13 des Leuchtschirmes 9 ist ein Implosionsschutz 14 angeordnet.
