1. An internal combustion engine comprising a sound-insulating capsule, which encloses the engine and defines a space for collecting lubricating oil, characterized in that at least portions of the capsule wall constitute a heat accumulator owing to the provision of heat-accumulating material (5), which has been applied to the inside surface of the capsule wall and is contacted by splashed oil, and constitute a heat exchanger because their surface area has been increased (6).

Eine Brennkraftmaschine (1) ist mit einer sie umschliessenden, schallisolierenden Kapsel (2, 3, 4) versehen. Um mit einfachen Mitteln das Kühlsystem (7, 8) der Brennkraftmaschine (1) zu verkleinern und günstigere Verhältnisse beim Starten nach längerer Betriebsunterbrechung zu erreichen, ist die Kapselwand zumindest bereichsweise als Wärmespeicher und/oder als Wärmetauscher ausgebildet. Für die den Wärmespeicher bildenden Bereiche ist auf die Kapselwand oberflächlich wärmespeicherndes Material (5) aufgebracht oder solch ein Material in Wandhohlräume eingefüllt. Im Bereich des Wärmetauschers ist die Oberfläche der Kapselwand beträchtlich vergrössert.
