Abstract (en)
This invention relates to processes for the enzymatic treatment of tobacco materials. More particularly, the present invention relates to processes for the partial enzymatic modification of tobacco materials by treatment with a cellulolytic or a pectolytic enzyme. Enzymatic treatment carried out according to the processes of the invention facilitates homogenization, fibrillation and processability of tobacco materials and improves the characteristics of the smoke of tobacco products made from the treated materials.
