A pump unit for cryogenic media with a high pressure piston pump of which the cylinder (50, 500) is connected integrally to a flange (40, 400), characterised in that this flange is constructed as a distributor block (40, 400) in which there are arranged recesses in which at least one high pressure nonreturn valve (7) and one low pressure vent valve (340) are fitted, while bores or channels arranged in the distributor block lead to connecting means (48) disposed externally on the distributor block, more specifically at least one connecting means (48) on which a low pressure safety valve (5) is directly mounted, also a connecting means on which a high pressure air chamber (9) with safety valve (8) is directly mounted, and in that further connecting means arranged externally on the distributor block are used for a high pressure line and a vapour return line.
