[origin: WO8600002A1] In a forage harvester with a height adjustable cutting head having ground engaging means in the form of slide shoes, one of these or another machine member, caused to be deformed by the pressure of the slide shoe against the ground, mounts a strain gauge (21) which, in response to variation of the engagement pressure, applies an electric signal actuating via an amplifier (42) one or the other of two magnet valves (43 and 44), which controls the supply and discharge, respectively, of oil to and from a hydraulic cylinder (16), which thereby raises and lowers, respectively, the cutting head until the desired pressure between the slide shoe and the ground has been re-established. Thus, the cutting head is kept at a substantially constant height above the ground irrespective of irregularities in the surface of the ground, so that also the stubble height is kept substantially constant.

Dans une faucheuse-hacheuse ayant une tête de coupe à hauteur réglable et des dispositifs de contact avec le sol sous la forme de patins, un de ces derniers, ou un autre élément de la machine déformé par la pression du patin contre le sol, s'appuie sur une jauge de contrainte (21) qui, en réponse aux variations de la pression de contact, envoie par l'intermédiaire d'un amplificateur (42) un signal électrique de commande à l'une des deux soupapes magnétiques (43, 44) qui commandent l'alimentation et la décharge d'huile respectivement d'un cylindre hydraulique (16), qui élève et baisse ainsi la tête de coupe jusqu'à ce que la pression voulue entre le patin et le sol soit rétablie. De cette façon, la tête de coupe est maintenue à une hauteur sensiblement constante au-dessus du sol, indépendamment d'irrégularités de la surface du terrain, et la hauteur du chaume est elle aussi maintenue à un niveau constant.
