[origin: US4715985A] Compositions for checking the functioning of fire detectors comprising at least 75% of at least one haloalkane, up to 15% of at least one volatile organic compound selected from the group consisting of alcohols, oxoderivatives, and ethers, a small amount of an organic compound having a vapor pressure less than 0.1 millibar, and an optional propellant. The composition can be used to check the functioning of ionization detectors, combustible gas detectors, and optical smoke detectors.

Ces compositions sont des mélanges constitués par au moins un halogénoalcane en quantité supérieure à 75% en poids, au moins un composé organique volatil à fonction oxygénée simple du type alcool, dérivé oxo, étheroxyde, en quantité inférieure à 15% en poids, un produit organique à faible tension de vapeur inférieure à 0,1 millibar, en très faible quantité au plus de quelques pourcents en poids, en outre ils peuvent contenir un gaz propulseur tel le protoxyde d'azote et le dioxyde de carbone. Application de ces compositions au contrôle du bon fonctionnement des détecteurs à ionisation, des détecteurs de gaz combustibles et des détecteurs optiques de fumées.
