A hinge consisting of a frame housing (106, 106'), which may be installed in the frame (1, 1'), and of a hinge loop (4) to be fixed to the rear narrow side (8) of the door (10) by means of a fixing plate (7), the hinge loop bearing a bush (3) to be inserted into the frame housing (106, 106') being joined to the fixing plate (7) by a web (9), which penetrates a recess (12') in the frame housing (106, 106') lying on the side facing the fixing plate (7) in the closed position, characterised in that the web (9) is bent back at least 90 degrees, in that the bearing bush (3) of the hinge loop (4) is provided with axially movable inserts (24) with ball bearings (22), these inserts being displaceable by means of a central bracing device (19), and the ball bearings (22) being adjustable between a release position, involving being drawn into the bearing bush (3) and a locking position, involving being partly engaged in adjacent bearing cups of the frame housing (106, 106'), and in that the frame housing (106, 106') is formed as a substantially cuboid box housing, whose top and bottom walls (107, 108) are provided with recesses (5), into which cup inserts (111), which are sprung by means of cup springs (113) so as to be axially displaceable, are inserted, the cup inserts (111) having bearing cups (112) for the ball bearings (22).
