[origin: EP0187669A2] The packaging material is made of laminated film and has at least one layer of paper and one layer of plastic for packaging blocks, rolls or the like of food containing fat. At least one layer of plastic of the laminated film projects beyond the layer of paper at both edges of the web of material. One web width of the packaging material is subdivided into two blanks. The blank is placed around the block of food in such a way that the blank region with the covered edge of the layer of paper is in contact with the food and the blank region with the open cut edge of the layer of paper is folded over it. <IMAGE>
