[origin: WO8600557A1] An article handling structure includes an arrangement for monitoring the orientation of the second end (58) of a link arm (50) with respect to the first end (42) of the link arm. A light beam source (45) is mounted on the first link end and is adapted to direct at least one light beam along said link arm to a predetermined position on said second end and a light beam detector (55) mounted on said second end is adapted to produce a signal representative of orientation of the second end with respect to the first end responsive to said light beam.

Une structure de manipulation d'articles comporte un dispositif pour surveiller l'orientation de la seconde extrémité (58) d'un bras de liaison (50) par rapport à la première extrémité (42) de ce bras de liaison. Une source de rayons lumineux (45) est montée sur la première extrémité de liaison et est conçue pour diriger au moins un rayon lumineux le long dudit bras de liaison jusqu'à une position prédéterminée sur ladite seconde extrémité, alors qu'un détecteur de rayons lumineux (55) monté sur ladite seconde extrémité est conçu pour produire un signal indiquant l'orientation de la seconde extrémité par rapport à la première extrémité en réponse audit rayon lumineux.
