[origin: EP0188648A1] In a transfer press, workpieces are transferred to the processing stages by means of gripper rails (1). After the tool change, the starting width of the gripper rails (1) has to be set for workpieces of different sizes. In each articulation point for the movements in the closing/opening directions (8), each gripper rail (1) is in operative connection with a lead screw (14) via a carrying element (3), a bearing bush (16) rotatably mounted in the carrying element (2), a cam part (14) effective when the bearing bush (16) is rotated and a cam-follower part (17). The lead screw (14) can be adjusted in the closing/opening directions (8) via driving means (9, 11, 12, 13). The bearing bush (16) is operatively connected to a servomotor (27) by means of rotation-transmitting means (14, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28). <IMAGE>
