Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0188776A2] 1. Transfer device for stepwise transfer of material and/or workpieces, especially in presses, with two gripper rails (17) positioned longitudinally to the conveyance path at intervals, which are driven so as to be able to jointly move to and fro and across their longitudinal axes opposite to one another in the feeding direction, consisting of at least two fixed, but optionally separably coupled gripper rail segments (18, 19 and 18', 19' respectively) with couplings interacting formlockingly in coupling position and centering means in the disconnecting area, wherein the coupling means being a tie rod (25) axially rotating and pivoting on its mobile support on one of the gripper rail segments (18, 18') jutting out in coupling position beyond the disconnecting point (20, 20') between the adjoining gripper rail segments (18, 19) and (18', 19') respectively acting jointly with a grip (30) formlockingly back-gripping the gripping surface (31) of an end portion (29) of the other gripper rail segment (19), such tie rod being axially braceable between the gripper rail segments and its grip (30) being able to be thrown out of contact with the gripping surface (31) of the end portion (29) already referred to due to rotation around its longitudinal axis and which is axially removable from its gearing position extending into the already referred to end portion.
