[origin: EP0189311A1] The invention relates to a process for controlling the formation of sheet material such as paper. An example of the operation of the invention involves a slurry of fibrous paper flowing through a slot (16) the size of which is governed by a slice lip (14) (thickness regulating member) itself controlled by actuator rods (51). The movements of the actuators to control the thickness of the paper formed are based upon physical characteristics of the slice lip (14) and of the actuators (51).
