Abstract (en)
1. Expansion joint device for two hollow sections of fundamentally square cross section, with an abutting element (3) which practically fills the cavity of the abutting sections, characterised by the fact that the abutting element (3) possesses a cavity running transverse to the joint axis and which is formed from the essentially box-type section of an extruded profile, casting or forging ; this cavity being limited by two webs (4) and two flanges (5), these flanges being provided centrally with a single or multiple slot (8) running transverse to the joint axis for accepting a U-shaped rubber seal (11), on which the other section (2) can expand in the direction of its longitudinal axis and which, in the event of a leaking device, also prevents the ingress of water into the sections, the free ends being chamfered at the flanges (5) and at least one of the webs (4) carrying a threaded channel (6) by means of which the abutting element (3) can be immovably fixed to the one section (1) by means of a screw.
