Fuel injection pump for internal-combustion engines, with a suction space (17) filled with fuel, the pressure of which is controlled as a function of the engine speed, with a fuel-rate adjusting lever (2) adjustable by means of a controller, and with a stop (3) for the fuel-rate adjusting lever (2) by means of which the regulating travel of the latter can be limited in the direction of an increase in the fuel-injection rate, and which can be adjusted by means of a regulating piston (11) which, on the one hand, is exposed to the fuel pressure prevailing in the suction space (17) and, on the other hand, limits a restoring space (23) and is subjected there to a restoring force which is exerted on the fuel-rate adjusting lever (2) in the direction of a reduction in the fuel-injection rate and which is modified by means of a fuel pressure controlled as a function of operating parameters, the restoring space (23) being connectable to a relief line, characterized in that fuel at the pressure prevailing in the suction space (17) can be fed to the restoring space (23), and the restoring space is connectable to the relief line (28) via an electrically controlled valve (27, 31) controlled by an electrical control device (30) when a maximum engine-speed or maximum driving-speed value is exceeded.
