[origin: EP0192179A2] The mixer comprises a mixing container 1 with a vertical axis, a conical side wall and a container bottom, as well as a mixing screw which is fastened to a shaft and is driven in rotation by means of a drive arranged underneath the container bottom. The upper end of the mixing screw is rotatably mounted in a bearing of a rotatingly driven swivel arm, which for its part is rotatably driven in a central housing flange on the upper side of the mixing container by a drive arranged there. To increase the operational reliability, axial changes in length of the mixing screw shaft are taken up in a bearing arranged at the swivel arm, by the mixing screw shaft being designed as a knockout spindle. Furthermore, the swivel arm is designed as a simple arm without any built-in gear mechanism, so there are no seals, gear components or the like in the product space. <IMAGE>
